Tiles to be laid with a minimum spacer of 3mm

Quartzcrete Tiles & Slabs

High quality polymerized, glass fiber reinforced slabs with quartz & glass aggregates

Standard sizes are 1200X1200, 600X1200 and 450X450

Colours, aggregate sizes and aggregate size proportions can be customized, within reason

25 mm thick slabs, to be laid on 1:4 cement:sand polymer modified mortar

Tiles/slabs can be laid with butt joints and then ground and polished after laying.

Laying Instructions

  • Ensure a proper level substrate concrete floor. If there are undulations level it out with a 1:1.5:3 screed
  • Coat the concrete floor with a suitable bonding agent to ensure proper bonding of floor to mortar
  • Mix a 1:4 cement:sand mortar and level it out to a thickness not more than 25 mm. Add a suitable polymer modifier for better strength and bonding
  • Mix a neat cement and polymer slurry to pour over the top of the mortar bed. Make trowel marks in the mortar 
  • Press down the tile and tap it with cloth covered mallet handle to ensure proper levels and no air bubbles below the tile. The tile must be perfectly supported by the mortar
  • Use a minimum of 3mm spacer between tiles
  • Wipe the surface of the tiles immediately to ensure that no slurry is sticking to the surface of the tiles
  • No human traffic on the tile for minimum of 48 hours
  • After tiles are laid, please ensure that they are protected by suitable Plaster of Paris. Plastic sheet should be laid on the tiles before mixing and pouring the PoP. Ensure that the tile laying is the last activity for an interior project. All activities including plastering, civil, electrical, plumbing, painting to be completed before tile laying. Only touch up coat of paint to be done after laying.

Quartzcrete Polishing

  • Day 1: Use a suitable grinding wheel, we suggest either a metal 50/60 or a stone-metal bonded abrasive Number 1 to grind to achieve level
  • Resin bonded abrasive wheel No. 50/60
  • Resin Bonded abrasive 100
  • First Stage Densification with Lithium Silicate densifier. Leave it on the surface for 2 hours before proceeding.
  • Resin Bonded abrasive wheel 200
  • First stage polymerized surface grout. Let the grout set overnight. Please get in touch with us to supply you with the necessary grouting chemicals
  • Day 2: Remove the grout with the Resin bonded wheel 400
  • Resin Bonded wheel 800
  • Second stage of Densification. Apply Lithoum Densifier. Leave it on the surface for 2 hours
  • Resin Bonded wheel 1500
  • Resin Bonded wheel 3000
  • Resin Bonded wheel 5000/7000 (optional for extra gloss)
  • Resin Bonded wheel 12000 (optional for extra gloss)
  • Finish with a buffing of suitable penetrative sealer

Depending on the requirement the Flexural Strength between 4- 5 N/mm2 - in accordance with strength requirements of IS 1237

Abrasion characteristics of top surface : Mohs hardness of 8, which is equivalent or better than granite, and far superior to Marble, Vitrified Tiles, Limestone, Kota stone

Repolishable surface - can be repolished after 15 years

There will be natural colour variation, inherent to the nature of cement and concrete products
